Current Crop is a New Orleans-based retail store focused on helping coffee lovers perfect the craft of home coffee roasting. From our location on Magazine Street, we provide the quality supplies and expertise that help take green coffee beans to the perfect finished cup.
Whether you are an aspiring or experienced home roaster or an expert, we welcome you to partake in our community of coffee enthusiasts. We are eager to help you perfect the craft of home coffee roasting; and, it is our hope that we’ll become an integral part of your coffee roasting journey. We’d like to be with you every step of the way as you learn and compare, grow and share.

OUR TEAM
Everyone on the Current Crop team is passionate about the art and science of home coffee roasting. Our mission is to create a hub for home coffee roasters to try new things, learn from our experience and have a good time doing it. We’d like to bring the love of home roasting to coffee lovers everywhere.
Members of our team are knowledgeable because they are inquisitive and driven. We are reliable and act with integrity as we go about the community-minded work of helping others pursue the perfectly crafted cup of coffee.


Director of Product & Programs
Catherine Mansell

Catherine lives and breathes the coffee industry. Her work at Current Crop is essential to the quality of our product and knowledge of our staff. She has successfully completed CQI Q Cupping Essentials and is a certified Q-Grader. As the Director of Product & Programs, Catherine works tirelessly to make certain that our customers have everything they need to learn and grow in their coffee roasting journey.
Her contagious energy, enthusiasm toward the field and deep pool of knowledge serve as the engine that drives our standards of excellence and relevance in the marketplace. Her contributions to Current Crop range from building the industry relationships that ensure we’re ethically sourcing the world’s best green coffee beans to securing and testing home roasting equipment at a range of consumer price points. She runs experimental roasting sessions and shares ideal roasting techniques and procedures with our customers and staff.

Joshua Santmier

Josh, like most of our employees, started as a customer shortly after we opened in 2023. Upon hearing a friend’s enthusiastic CCRS recommendation, Josh decided to see what Current Crop was all about—and he “felt like a kid in a candy store” as he often describes it. Josh soon became known as the “Monsoon Malabar guy,” roasting a pound of this uniquely processed Indian coffee every week, along with another coffee or two from other new-to-him origins. When Josh decided to shift his previous career path, CCRS was the first place of employment he applied to.
Having worked in practically all the various facets of retail business, Josh brings vast experience to the CCRS krewe, implementing many of our inventory management systems and sales directives. Despite wearing many hats, Josh remains enthusiastic about learning as much as he can about coffee roasting, cupping, processes, etc. He loves that he can continue to apply his teaching experience as well, leading our weekend Intro to Roasting classes.

Rhea Mac

Since last year, Rhea as brought lots of fun to our team! She has been an invaluable player, helping with welcoming guests and giving great recommendations of different coffees to try at the shop. Rhea is welcoming and a joy to chat with while roasting your coffee: if you’re ever traveling to New Orleans, stop by the shop & Rhea will surely have some great recommendations for breweries, restaurants, and other coffee shops in the area as well!
On top of her next level customer service skills, Rhea also keeps our website running smoothly & assists with Quality Control. You can also find her in the classroom teaching Intro to Roasting classes on Tuesdays.

Glennon Davalos Stanton
Glennon has been with CCRS since the beginning, helping us open our in March 2023. He has been in the coffee industry for quite some time as a barista at several cafes since his college days. Glennon jumped at the opportunity to dive deeper into the coffee world when he happened upon the job listing at Current Crop.
Being not only deeply knowledgable of our offerings but also deeply interested in people, Glennon is a great person to guide you through your coffee roasting journey at CCRS. When he’s not catching up with our shop regulars, Glennon is on top of all things inventory and assists with Quality Control and shop upkeep.

Elaine Didier
Elaine got into specialty coffee after years of drinking coffee from K-cups and being convinced that she didn’t like black coffee. After trying beans from local roasters, she realized what a difference freshly ground and roasted coffee makes. She loves how connected our coffees are to their country of origin.
Elaine brings a warmth and a desire to learn to her days at Current Crop. She’s also a big fan of our furry visitors—if your pup’s lucky enough, she’ll be here on a Saturday to hand out some treats!

Phoebe Guinn
Phoebe has always enjoyed coffee, but not until taking a position at CCRS did she realize how much variety there is to it. Working as Current Crop has shifted her perspective on coffee from “a means to get caffeine” to a daily treat!
If you’ve been greeted or assisted by Phoebe at our shop, we’re sure that you’ve learned tons about coffee and really enjoyed your experience. Phoebe is funny and joyful and a blast to have as part of our team. She’s here on Sundays when the shop is packed out; we so appreciate her energy during a rush at the shop!
